Venezia, Venice, VenetiĆ«. It's a city that conjures up romance, beauty and mystery. One day in this floating city was enough to make an impression for a life time. Unfortunately the weather wasn't great but it didn't stop me from enjoying this beautiful city. The phot…

Heading from Verona to Venice we encountered some very strange, foggy weather, at times meaning we could barely see the other cars on the road, but we finally figured out how to make it to the car park outside the city and headed for the boat that would take us to one of Italy's most famous de…

Venice, or Venezia to the Italians, is famous for its canals and is one of the most well preserved cities in Europe. There are about 150 canals, splitting up nearly 120 islands, all connected by about 400 bridges. There are no cars in Venice. Instead, water taxis, waterbuses, waterambulance(high sp…

Italy! What can I say! Venice, Florence and then Rome! Gelato, pasta, ciao, bonjourno!
I had such a wonderful time. Taking in the sites, food and culture was really quite interesting. I can't wait to go back and stay longer. I only stayed for a week and ate more gelato than you can imagine. Rome was a highlight for me because I got the opportunity to stand inside of the famed Coloseum. I also spent a few hours in Tuscany and it was too short! Blu wine and finger-licking food.

My best friend ever came to visit me in Rome, but all we wanted to do was go to Slovenia. Along the way we stopped at some towns to train for entering Slovenia. We learned to see towns in absurdly short periods of time, to see towns at ridiculous times of day (5 AM)!!, to take regional trains and bus transport without knowing anything about it.

We decided to try something new in Venice, and stay in a campground. Venice is so freaking expensive that it was much more affordable that way. We were a little nervous to see what we would find. We were very pleasantly surprised! The place had a pool, bar, small grocery store, and internet. Our ro…

If you haven't made your way to Venice, Italy yet....WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR??!!
This city is amazing, there is so much to see and explore. The best thing that you can plan on doing in Venice is NOT TO PLAN! Just wander the streets getting lost and enjoying the beautiful streets as they open up in front of you.
One other tip...bring a lot of cash, it is VERY expensive.

I will always have a mix of emotions about this trip. Always. It was my first time out of the country. I was dirt poor, working two jobs to just get by. My partner was paying for the entire trip (for me this was uncomfortable but greatly appreciated). And to top everyt…
