Venice: city on the water
posted by:
May 18, 2007 – Aug 04, 2007
I’ll just start off by saying that Venice is definitely the most beautiful place that I have ever been to. Although it is very touristy (I heard nearly as much English there from Americans than I did Italian) and expensive, there is no other place like Venizia. But I’ll start the recap from …

Grand Canal
posted by:
Jul 18, 2006
Places of interest in Venice are Marco Square, the Rialto Bridge & doge palace. Good day trips include The grand canal tour & the islands trip to Murano/Burano/Torcello which all have unique story's behind there existence. The food was lovely, if you like I had someone special with you, I suggest you try the little romantic restraunt at the foot of the rialto. Make sure you have plenty of money however as it can be expensive, clothes shopping is a no no unless your posh and becks!

We were up early this morning, had a quick breakfast and hopped on the bus. Magoo was driving us to where we had to hop on the boat which would take us to Venice, as there are no cars on the island. We walked along the dock and let me tell you it was a prett rickety dock!! We hopped on the boat and…

The Italian Frontier to Venice
posted by:

Tarvisio is the first town after crossing the border into Italy. There was a bit of stop here for passport control and clearing customs. FS, the Italian national railway, took over control of the train from ÖBB and Austrian and Italian locomotives were exchanged. I had to document the …

Venice had probably the worst hostel so far. The man at the front desk tried to rip me off twice. I might be retarded when it comes to having a sense of direction, but there's no fooling me when it comes to numbers. I don't think I'm having good luck with weather either because I'm always cold. It'…

We just got back from Venice! I had such a great weekend. Friday we left for Venice and frankly I wasn't all that excited for it. I just thought it would be another Italian city, but I was so wrong. Venice is like no other city I have ever been to. First off, there are no roads, no cars. You get ar…

A beautiful "quiet no-car" city, just loads and loads of tourists. It was our honeymoon, so I leave out the personal details, just enjoy the pictures of this world heritage site.

Venice was my favorite city! I've been obsessed with it ever since my freshman year Venetian history class. We only spent a day and a half there, but I wish I could have been there a whole week! We called months in advance for tickets to San Marco, but we couldn't manage to get any, which was disap…

Our next morning in Venice didn’t turn out so well. My husbands knee is bothering him quite a bit and I’m not about to leave him there at the hotel by himself.  The tour would have been a walking tour of Venice, and he knew that there was no way he could keep up with the pace.  It rea…

Italy was everything that I hoped for ... beautiful, romantic, rich in history, and had the best food and wine that I've ever tasted. Every town had its own character and beauty. I came to love bread, mozarella, olive oil, and sundried tomatoes ... and vino of course!
