Venice Beach Jan 23, 2017
We took the number 1 big blue bus from Santa Monica to Venice Beach.

The beach is long and we did not explore it all. We started at the skate park, then walked along the front for a while past Muscles Beach and then onto the Venice fishing pier.

The beach was lined with shops, restaurants and bars.

Venice is called Venice because of its canal area. We really enjoyed wandering around this area. It had some wonderful houses, several canals, lots of little bridges and was basically just extremely pretty and photogenic.

Nice peaceful experience at Venice Beach Jan 18, 2013
Obviously had to check this out during our Cali visit; and it was quite a nice experience. Very peaceful and serene sitting by the water. Was quite impressed by alot of the artists lined up by the boardwalk. The skate park was pretty cool as well; just the whole vibe of the entire area was very cool. Had a great time!!

Description: "Venice is a beachfront neighborhood on the Westside of Los Angeles, California, United States. It is known for its canals, beaches and circus-like Ocean Front Walk, a two-and-a-half-mile pedestrian-only "

The circus that is Venice Beach Jul 10, 2013
A hot afternoon in Los Angeles and we have decided to leave the house and go to Venice Beach. This time round, we leave the car behind and go by bus. Two minutes walk to Sawtelle Blvd and hopping into the Big Blue Bus (route 1) towards Santa Monica. It feels good to take the bus and just enjoy the ride.

We get off the bus before it heads towards Santa Monica Place and pop into Santa Monica- California Heritage Museum for a quick look before heading to Venice.

Arrived at the beach and the place and atmosphere is crazy! All sorts of activities are going on here, some crazy others downright bizarre. It’s the sort of place that you have to ensure your valuables are kept well out of sight or closer to you. Venice is a unique place which atleast you visit once to witness the artists, street performers and God knows who else. There are police around the places (not surprising from the activities around the place)

Away from the activities, the beach front and was not too busy and the water quite clean and calm.

Venice might not be everyone’s cup of tea but it’s an intriguing place.

A site to see Apr 23, 2011
When ever someone comes to town to visit they always want to check out Venice beach. Located about a mile south of the Santa Monica pier Venice beach is the home of muscle beach which is an outdoor workout area where people lift weights. Don't ask why people want to workout with tons of other people watching but they do. Their are basketball courts (you can as the parks and rec booth to borrow a basketball just give them your ID. Their are also paddle tennis courts and beach volley ball nets. Their are tons of cool store fronts with everything from tee-shirts to original art work. Note their are some strange people down there but most won't bother you if you don't pay attention to them. The street performers in the summer time are pretty good and artists paint right there in front of you.

Don't pay $20 for parking you can park in the main lot at Venice blvd and where the beach meets for less then $10 or you can try to find street parking. Their are 1-2 hr lots if you drive north on ocean blvd toward the pier. The SM pier is a 30 min walk up the boardwalk. DO NOT walk on the bike path people get upset if you do and might run you over stick to the walkway.

Los Angeles Alternative Culture Beach Haven Mar 13, 2011
A great spot to come and walk along the beach with numerous stores and it's fair share of characters. Stores sell everything from clothes, food, posters, paintings, all kinds of assorted knick knacks and of course smoking devices and paraphernalia galore. The beach itself is rather expansive and has many places to lay with blankets and tan. The water can be a bit dirty though, wouldn't really recommend swimming in it if you care about hygiene but at the same time that's never stopped me from doing that. A little dirty ocean swim isn't so bad. The beach also has basketball courts, a gym and street performers of all kinds.

It can get a bit busy at times and some people don't like the culture or vibe there but then again I've always thought it to be a nice way to spend an afternoon in Los Angles. There is parking all around for various amounts of money and if you're lucky you can get some street parking here and there. Also the venice canals are just around the corner as well and it's kinda nice to walk through and see some pretty cool house designs and the people boating form place to place. It's the quintessential movie beach, when you're in L.A. you've got to do this at least once and who knows maybe hollywood will be filming a movie while you're there.

Beach with Medical Marijuana centers May 18, 2011
Venice beach is one of the top attractions around Los Angeles. located 40 miles drive from the Quality Inn near Disneyland, where we stayed in our LA trip. This beach has body building place with many equiments to exercise. When we are here American Ninja program was being shot. We have seen one episode live and also part of the same.

There are lot of stalls selling TShirts and souvenirs next to the beach. While walking I have seen many Medical Marijuana evaluations centers along the beach road. Quite intresting to know the health symptoms to use Marijuana.

We have walked around 2 to 3 miles along the beach and seen what the beach has to offer for a normal visitor like us. Overall a great and new experience.

Venice Beach Boardwalk Apr 14, 2011
Great place and full of life and artist. If you are in the LA area. It is a great place to visit and must see. The beach is great and in the summer the place is full of life and great energy. Plenty of bars and just down the street is Main street in Santa monica. Great food and also more bars.

A unique place in LA for sure, and people watching at its best. Potheads, street performers, muscle dudes, you name it, you'll see it walking down the boardwalk.

Tip: Go on Sunday afternoons for the weekly drum circle on the beach. It gets crazy.

Watching people on Venice Beach Jun 18, 2010
Venice Beach is definitely a great place to watch interesting and fun people. The environment is so multicultural that you will find something interesting, no doubts about that.

While you are walking along the boardwalk you will see many colorful shops with souvenirs and also novelties. A lot of urban art decorates the whole area.

Also you will see interesting doctor's offers and tattoos shops. Of course do not forget about the delicious places for food.

Spending a day walking around even if you don't go to swim is highly recommend it and if you want to have lunch or grab a bite, try to have a nice picnic.
