vejer is a pueblo blanco set in the hills above a pine forest and a short drive from the costa de la luz with it's spectacular and wild atlantic beaches. the old town has a charming plaza with fountain, surrounded with bars and restaurants, centuries old labyrinthine streets not wide enough for traffic in many places lead to ancient churces and city fortress walls. there is a substantial developent of new houses but these are sympathetically constructed and unobtrusive to those staying within the heart of the original town.
