Luxury Villa in the interior of Sicily at a reasonable price Aug 24, 2014
We booked this villa on holidaylettings by tripadvisor. My wife organised this I looked at the pictures and it looked OK.
Well the pictures don't do it justice at all, it's nothing short of magnificent. I can't believe we have secured it at this time of year for the price, which works out at 250 Euro per person for the week. Whilst writing this I have discovered it has it's own website http://www.vecchiadimora.it/Lavecchiadimora/Home.html. The pictures here do it far more justice than mine.
A sign on the entrance indicates its part of an EU initiative in the area, an agri commune set up in a rural area promoting the growth of produce in the grounds. It's situated in 10 acres and you can roam the grounds to pick the produce, we had figs, lemons, limes, oranges, olives, pomegranate and other things I've since forgot.
Of course there was a pool in amongst manicured gardens with ample sun loungers, chairs, tables a barbecue area etc etc. The villa itself could hold 12 people and is an old family house that probably had an area for livestock all renovated with modern bathrooms, a spacious kitchen area with all mod cons and all tastefully decorated with local old furniture. At night it was all lit up outside and looked even more spectacular. As if this is not enough there is Mt Etna just away in the distance dominating the scenery and seemingly visible from every room in the house.
