Sunday morning and we are getting everyone and everything into the two mini buses for the two hour drive to the airport. We are leaving for Cuba today for my brother's wedding and everyone is excited. Nerves brought on by anticipation of the sun, as our plane was scheduled to leave at 6pm and we are on our way to the airport at 10am. Yes the bride was a little nervous and wanted to make sure we were there in lots of time. If she only knew what we would be dealt later in the day, our depart...

So we went to go see the famous and rightly so, Buena Vista Social Club at a nearby local club.  Truly. Amazing. After the show, I met some of the musicians and got a CD signed by one of them.  Needless to say, I was pretty excited about that.  This I'm sure was a once in a lifetime experience.

I have family in Cuba. Went several years ago and was so happy to meet relatives. What a beautiful place!! Didn't get to go to Trinidad where most of them live because it is hard to get around. But saw Havana, Varadero, and some other small towns. I am determined to go back again...maybe next Christmas :)

Cuba was great! It was pretty much one big party when we were at the resort, but then when in Havana, it's very historical, and some more partying. I had heard before I had left that the food isn't good in Cuba, but at the resort I was at (Tryp Peninsula) the food was really good. The beaches are awesome in Varadero, and the people are pretty friendly. Over all a great time.

I visited Cuba in 2005.I went to a large hotel in Varadero,a tourist-based town with very little of the real Cuba.However, if you like the beach, it is fabulous here. I also visited Havana during my stay in Cuba.Away from Varadero,the poverty becomes evident & people beg even though by law they're not allowed to bother tourists.Havana is a city full of old Spanish architecture & buildings,many of which have fallen into disrepair. The Cuban people are some of the friendliest I have ever met.

Eastern Canada has known record breaking snowfalls during the winter 2007-2008. Some areas received over 500 centimeters of snow. I love snow! But, you know what they say about too much of something... I needed some sun. Besides my passport was ready!
