Vall de Nuria Travel Reviews

Picturesque valley hidden at 2000 m in Pyrenees Aug 07, 2008
Vall de Nuria is a must see for all outdoor lovers traveling to Pyrenees in Catalunya. It's a ski resort in the wintertime (however, not a place you'd go for skiing/boarding on purpose) and it also provides the great opportunity for an amazing hiking day in the mountains in summer/autumn: breathtaking views are guaranteed. A decent restaurant/hotel in the mountain valley will reward you after your approx. 2-hrs spectacular walk (path easily accessible for trained hikers, less prepared enthusiasts can make it too with some more stops), all other necessary tourist facilities are there too. A tip for those tourists arriving to Queralbs lower rack train station (this is where the path begins) in the autumn : get out of bed early enough, otherwise you'd better be prepared to make a U-turn in the middle of the trail as the daylight duration won't allow you to make the whole distance to the valley and back. There is no circulation in the rack railway line in-between seasons, so you'd better check the schedule and fares at their site before planning your ascent.
