Valdivia Fish Market Nov 25, 2013
Valdivia fish market is located on the banks of the rivers that surround the town. City is some 20km away from the sea and it has the major fishing port and packaging industry in the region. Fish market is not that bug but everything is fresh, in large quantities and sizes. Passing by the stalls I saw the pile of nicely stacked things that looked like pig skin, but when I got closer it showed its real nature, and it was an algae that looks like kelp. Neatly piled in heaps it just looked surreal and beautiful. My total fascination was with different kind of algae and conk that you could see everywhere. In the end I went to the car with the “brick” of dried green algae that was super tasty and natural, just a perfect snack for the rest of the trip.
