Small and easy to arrive at and depart from Nov 16, 2012
The in-flight of the Airport of Faroe Island is quite narrow, which is a well-known fact for all Danes as a former defense minister died there some year ago when a military jet flew into the cliff during bad weather. Vágar Airport is the only airport in the Faroe Islands and it is pretty small but the runway was increased to just under 1800 meter some years ago.

The airport is pretty small and after a short walk you step into the small terminal and the luggage area. When you step out of there you are in the public area of the terminal, where people are waiting to receive their family members and others are getting ready to leave the islands.

There are not that many features in the terminal; you have a small car rental booth for AVIS, ATMs, a cafeteria, news shop and a tourist information desk. I was looking for a Hertz car rental office but I found that there only was AVIS and I had to pick-up my car in Torshavn. There is free Wi-Fi; it took me quite long to find access because I have become a member but after there it worked pretty well.

The easiest way to get into Torshavn is to take the bus and it only cost 90 kr. or 12 euro, while a taxi cost 600 kr. or 80 euro. Getting back to the airport can be done by the same bus, taking a taxi or taking what is called a taxi shuttle that operates from all the hotels if you book them in advance. It is a normal taxi but they can have up to 3 people in the car, but the best part is that they only cost 175 kr. or 23 euro.

Leaving from the airport is easy, security is fast but their tax-free shop is expensive and very limited. In same way as when you land you just step out on the tarmac and walk to the plane and enter as soon as the go has been given from the airport staffs.
