Vacanciel L Oiseau Bleu Hotel Frejus

I hate to say it but our room was like being confined to a prison cell. We knew that it was never going to be luxury, especially as it was only £40 per night. But this was like a youth hostel room. The rest of the hotel is very nice; sunny reception area with Cezanne paintings all around, lovely outdoor restaurant and pool. So what happened to the rooms?!
We had booked a double, but got a twin room. There is literally no furniture in the room except for 2 very uncomfortable beds and a small chair that faces the wall. Lino floor, stone whitewashed walls, heavy blue plastic door and zero decoration. It felt sterile, cramped and clearly hadn't been renovated since the 1980s.
The bathroom has a very small corner shower (not suitable for disabled or larger guests), but dismayed to say that the bathroom had a strong urine odour every day after cleaning. We think the chambermaid was using a dirty mop.
We are not snobby types or usually complain, but this was, unfortunately the worst hotel either of us had ever stayed in. Its good points though, are it's very close to the beach and there's free parking.
