First to get to Uyuni from La P…

BUS JOURNEY
Well the bus was an hour late but we are getting used to that now, as it seems to be the norm for them to run late. I was fiercly guarding our bags when Bend went to the toilet as I saw some guy come up and steal a hat off of someones head! At first I thought it was his mate but no, he…

I am a little behind in my blog entries so I am going to write a few short ones to catch up. Uyuni is a quiet town that is only on the travelers map because of its close proximity to the famous Bolivian salt flats. The pizza in the hotel was the best yet in South America.

Salar Uyuni is probably the most spectacular place I have ever been to. Cruising at a hundred kilometres per hour on this huge salt pan, with absolutely no other vehicle around is a unique experience. On a 110km trip on the pan we only saw one or two vehicles!
The Isla del Pescado o…

What a magical and surreal experience! So glad we decided to come back to Bolivia for this final adventure at the world's largest salt flats, El Salar de Uyuni!! What you have here is truly spectacular . . . imagine 12000 sq km of blindingly white salt flats, interrupted only by small, cacti-covere…

Everyone in Uyuni is only there to do one of these trips, some that loop back to Uyuni or go to Tupiza or cross over to San Pedro de Atacama in Chile. People say Uyuni is a hole, but I thought it had a certain c…
