Uyami Green View Lodge Banaue Reviews
Uyami Green View Lodge Mar 17, 2013
Uyami Green View Lodge is the cheapest place in Philippines that I found, but everything else in this little town of Banaue is rip off. When you get there, you will be held “hostage” buy tuk tuk and jeepney drivers which are needed for any transportation anywhere around… Expect all transport to be at least 3 times more than what really is, and the worst thing is that everyone in town is quiet about local transportation options.
Anyway as I said, price of 250pp is definitely unbeatable for 3 bed room shared with another guy. If you ask me how many floors are in this place, I would not know because this lodge is on the cliff overlooking the small river and has levels up and down… Entrance is not interesting at all, barely there is mention of the lodge over some metal door and windows of the wood carving souvenir shop. Well that is how you get in, through the large carvings of animals and hunters, incredible whole three vine holder and many other small and large things. After you survive darkness and mystical beings of the shop, you enter the restaurant area of the lodge. Bunch of tables are placed all over and the nicest ones are right next to the windows with incredible view of the little canyon, red walking bridge and some rice fields. It looks like it is a family run place and they are very nice and helpful (for everything aside of transportation). Food that is served in the lodge is tasty and good, with nice variety of the items you can order.
We got room on the floor under the restaurant, which is strangely separated into rooms. Ceiling is high, some rooms have windows and furniture has seen better days, but in general it is clean and smells good. Internet is supposed to work, but in reality it is similar to ghost… Sometimes you thing you saw it, but it is probably just your imagination. Down floor has nice small terrace where I enjoyed sun sunsets with local beer and cigars. Everything in town closes around 9PM so you better stack up for the party you are having.
Now a bit about issues. Bathrooms are a bit on a horrible side. Showers don’t have hot water, plumbing is very temperamental. There is ONE shower with heater that you will have to pay more money for it… Of course I ignored that rule and used it as much as I want… it is very cold on that mountain. Couple of old school sinks are all you will get for washing and cleaning and they are kind of dirty and falling apart.
Anyway, it is good place to stay for a couple of days and then continue with your travels. Actually if is possible, do not stay in this town at all and go to the Batad which is the reason you will come to Banaue any way. It is not easy to get to Batad but they have couple of guest houses and morning view of the rice terraces must be amazing.
