Usuzumi zakura is a famous spring-equinox cherry tree in Usuzumi park in motosu city, Gifu prefecture. This tree is over 1,500 years old. The color of petal is light pink in the bud. It changes to white in full bloom. The color changes to pale charcoal color when it falls. This tree is 16.3 meters high. The trunk is 9.91 meters in diameter. This old tree was preserved by many people's efforts. This tree is one of the five famous cherry trees in Japan. It was chosen a natural monument in 1922.
