Uppsala is Sweden's 4th largest city and located about 70km north of Stockholm. The city has one of the oldest universities in northern Europe, Uppsala University, which is often ranked one of the top 100 universities in the world.

The Fyris river divides the river into two parts, the western and the eastern part. The shopping is done in the eastern part, while most of the sites of interest are located in the western part.

Domkyrkan, the Uppsala Cathedral, is also located in the western part, and is probably the most interesting site as it is the largest cathedral in Scandinavia (118.70m high).
