Bonus Falls Jun 17, 2002
Upper Proxy Falls is the bonus waterfall you get when you visit Lower Proxy Falls. It is easily reached as you continue on the Proxy Falls loop trail, past the lower falls. This waterfall doesn’t really fall into Proxy Creek, but is on a completely different (unnamed) creek. Nonetheless, it is a spectacular cascade, dropping about 200 ft. in height. When you reach Upper Proxy Falls, you will notice that the falls drops into a very small pool which seemingly has no outlet. Due to the lava in this area the water goes underground at this point, and joins up with Proxy Creek downstream. There is a trail here which you can follow up the cliff alongside the waterfall. If you are so inclined, you can probably scramble right to the top of the falls, but it is very steep. So be careful.
