Germany River with medieval villages May 23, 2012
The Upper middle rhine Valley contains an area around 60 miles of the Rhine River. it is a protected UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Rhine is a beautiful river that is navigable. Many towns and villages are located on the hills and valleys that surround the river. A tour of the river will allow you to see an incredible amount of castles including Sch├Ânburg and Koblenz. The sides of the river are terraced and this is the most important winemaking region in Germany. Many of the villages along the banks still retain their medieval character.
