Walking into the courtyard, you feel as though you are about to witness a Quidditch match. From the back of the university there are terrific views of the city. All around this is not to be missed AND it's free.

I have a thing for old university campuses, too -- like my church thing, so I ended up exploring there for a while, before wandering down Byers Road. The first stop was the university campus itself, the scene of so many wild nights and very happy memories, including where I met and married my wife. The campus hasn't changed much since I left, but as it was the holidays, it was eerily quiet and didn't have… Boxing Day visit to the West End

The evening I took these shots, I was at Glasgow University's main campus in the city, covering the result of their rectorial election. In case anyone is interested (ahem!) Liberal Democrat MP (and former party leader) Charles Kennedy won, followed by human rights lawyer Aamer Anwar, then comedian and broadcaster Hardeep Singh Kohli and Green… Happy Snapper (although I'm supposed to be working!)
