Universal Studios Hollywood Jun 11, 2008
Universal Studios Hollywood theme park is a theme park based around the original Universal movie studios in Universal City, Los Angeles. The entrance fee is expensive, I think we paid about 70 dollars. However, it's really worth it. Just like the Disneyland parks, Universal Studios isn't a theme park full of thrill rides. Quality is more important than quantity. And when the quality is good, I like that.
Some great rides in the park were Back to the Future the Ride (which is closed now, such a shame), Jurassic Park The Ride and Revenge of the Mummy. Jurassic Park is an exciting water ride where it's almost impossible to finish with dry clothes. Pretty refreshing when the weather is hot, which occurs a lot in Los Angeles, haha. Revenge of the Mummy is a fast steel rollercoaster ride in the dark. The location of the park is perfect. There are two so-called lots; the upper and lower lot. You can get up and down by using the impressive escalators which give you a great view around the beautiful area. I think Universal Studios is a fantastic theme park with nice attractions and great shows in a beautiful neighbourhood. It really takes you into the world of movies. You can go backstage and see how it's done. But, because the entrance fee and the consumptions are way too expensive, it gets 'only' 4 stars from me. I saw that they will open new parks in Manilla, Dubai, Seoul and Singapore, so when you live there let me say to you: it's worth it! Although Universal Studios Hollywood, the original one, is the best and most special.

Well like any other them park the prices are insane. Everything costs double if not triple. If I remember correctly you can re-enter the park once, so just out into the city walk and grab some food there. Food at the park is crap.
Its a fun place but don't plan to spend the whole day there because it won't happen unless its the weekend and the lines last for miles. There aren't that many rides there so if they aren't any lines it'll take you like half a day to do the whole park. Although its a place everyone should check out at one point or another but do not make it a priority. Its a fun place for kids, lots of picture opportunities but once you get older it looses its touch. If its rides you're looking for, I'd suggest going to Six Flags instead. |

Universal studios is imperative for any movie lover, but also a great tourist attraction you definitely shouldn't miss if you are going to hollywood, california. Make sure you bring your camera becuase there are lots of movie props you will want to take pictures with/of !
The shrek movie theatre 'experience' was funny and very enjoyable, something I couldnt stop thinking about even days after I left. Don't miss the studio tour! seeing the backlot where they filmed so many amazing movies is purely breathtaking. |

If you are planning a trip to Los Angeles you must spend a day at Universal Studios. Go on all the rides, take loads of photos and be sure to go on the studio tour....its a real eye opener into what goes on behind the scenes in a movie. I recommend this 100%

Great fun at a low price Jan 20, 2007
This was one of my favorite days spent in Los Angeles. I had so much fun and Universal made me feel like a kid again, but a cool kid...lol... ‘Cause I got to see all the cool sets from different movies.
I really enjoyed the Universal City tour, it was amazing. My favorite ride was the Mummy; the ride is crazy, first it goes off very, very fast and then once you get to the a certain spot it stops... and it goes backwards! It was the best, I love the unexpected. Universal Studios is great and the characters are very funny. I just wish it was bigger, I wanted more... Part of the From the YO to the DUDE! travel blog |

Although the VIP Tour is more expensive than an average tour - you do get some added extras including going behind the scenes to some of the TV show sets and seeing features and experiencing rides, etc., which are included in the price, otherwise you would have to pay separately for them. All in all, I thought it was well worth the extra money, even though we didn't go for all the rides, etc.!!
