United Bakeries Oslo Reviews
The best bakery in town Sep 02, 2012
United Bakeries is a popular bakery chain and no doubt my favorite. They have become a great success in Oslo over the past few years.
The bakeries are rustic and look like old-fashioned bakeries with all kinds of coffee grinders as decoration. All the tables and chairs are mismatched, some wooden tables and some old sewing machine tables. The atmosphere is warm and very charming. There is seating both outside and inside. All the bakeries are very popular and seating can be a problem, so get a table before buying anything!
United Bakeries have a great selection of pastry, cookies, scones, cakes, croissants and breads, all very delicious and fresh. They also serve sandwiches, rolls and baguettes with a variety of fillings as well as quiche. They roast their own coffee beans and are well known for making great tasting coffee drinks. Their hot chocolate is made with milk chocolate or dark chocolate, both of them are delicious! The fresh squeezed orange juice and the smoothies are great too. The only thing I would not recommend is their tea drinks. It seems like they make them with too much water and too little milk. United Bakeries is the only café, which doesn´t charge extra for soyamilk.
Everything they have is fantastic, but the rolls served with their famous strawberry jam in small paper cups are particularly popular. I can also recommend the triple chocolate scones and the maple pecan cookies. You order and pay by the counter. The sweet and helpful staff will give you the food, then you move down the line to pick up your hot drinks.
Prices are a bit over average, but portions are a bit bigger too.
I can highly recommend United Bakeries. They are simply the best bakery in town, which serve a great variety of pastry, from the classic French croissants to the traditional Norwegian sweet roll.
