Losing
nine hours during the flight deposited me in Dubai around 9:30PM Saturday night. I was a little taken aback by the lack of
instructions/signage informing where exactly to go, but eventually stood in the
appropriate line and shared an engaging chat with a guy from Britain who was ove…

The trip from Abu Dhabi to Oman was a birthday present from April to me and we set off late morning. Abu Dhabi to Al Khamir in Oman is a 5 hour drive. Driving north, the desert sands alongside the motorway are orange peach coloured. Groups of camels stroll, grazing on the rare green desert plants. …

This was my 25th run with Mainland hash abu dhabi and also my final run as I will leave the day after. Good that my boss didn't know that the reason why I pushed to stay longer in Abu Dhabi is because I want to make my 25th run:).
The running site was a new one as they said, located around Mussafa…

We were woken at the ungodly hour of 3.30am with an alarm call (we'd only got a couple of hours sleep as we ended up watching a couple of episodes of Little Britain in the evening) and 5 minutes later our breakfast arrived! We were brought an amazing selection of pastries, toast and fruit juice, an…

During our early morning cab-ride to the airport, the lady on the radio reported the the temperature would be around 41ºC (106ºF) today. Whoa! Dang! That's hot! Good day to be leaving I guess. So we are off to Amman, Jordan (relatively cool, I think!) with a three-hour layover in Bahrain. See you…

The next morning I awake at 8am. I take a hot shower due to lack of cold water. Then I survive breakfast without suffocating and step outside into the heat again. My first stop for today is Ibn Batutta Mall. Thinking the taxi ride would take only about ten minutes I’m quite surprised to…

I don't wish to start a diplomatic incident here- far from it, but when your brother rings up pleading for help, what do you do?His girlfriend, Lidia, has gone recently to Abu Dhabi to start a new work contract with (I am told) a new luxury hotel. So far, so good.Only the intermediary company origin…

And so, our full (well almost full day, we had time till 6pm) to see Dubai. Fabulous magnificent Dubai. Hot hotter hotter-than-hot heat filled Dubai. Rather than take the Big Bus tour available here, we spoke to our Hotel Concierge on fixing us up with a private taxi. Our taxi driver, whose name wa…

7 days was just right to see Dubai and relax at the beautiful beaches! Water is seethrough and very warm. Not much fish, only lots of starfish hidden in the sand.
For those who think "shopping", it is not much cheaper than in the US, but might be if you're from Europe, which is pretty expensive these days.
Once there, you have to go on a Safari trip, which includes dune bashing, camel ride and belly dancing performance!
Wild Wadi water park was fun, but a bit expensive for its size!
