Best Spinach Salad I ever had! Mar 24, 2011
I'm from California and many of my friends joke that I come from the land of rabbit food. Healthy greens and low fat options are plentiful in my little suburban town, but never have I had a salad like the lunch size spinach salad from Union League Cafe in New Haven. I wish I could begin to explain it. The raw spinach was crisp and cold but not icy or wet. The bits of Roquefort cheese and smoked bacon are more traditional ingredients, but this salad was not short of twists. Honey roasted pears tasted like warm candy bits swimming in a pecan infused tangy dressing. It was to die for.

This restaurant seems to be frequented by rich Yalies and their visiting relatives. Expensive, small portions, but always good. Union League seems like a see and be seen type of place on the few occasions I have been there.
