Student apt style housing Jul 14, 2011
Not really a hotel, but available for short term stay if you have a valid student ID. It is apartment style housing with swipe card access to rooms and even the elevator. High security with a reception desk out front. They plan a lot of events for the students to mingle/get to know each other. Most students are foundation year students, which I found out means this is their first year at uni (so age 18, some even 17). Being a grad student, I wasn't too keen on living with underaged students. When I went, everyone was on holiday, so I basically had a 5 bedroom apt to myself. Kitchen is very small and no oven. Cleaning every other week/basic linen is provided. There is a bus stop right out front, so even though its is ~20 min bus ride to the city, very convenient.

Unilodge is not maintained. When you first come in, there are remnants of rotten food in the kitchen drawers, and the carpets are badly stained. Each floor also have really bad garbage odor, and is not regularly cleaned. You can really tell that its an old premise, as a lot of the equipments such as: sink, chairs, etc are ussually broken, as well as the balcony that is heavily dusty. The rooms are really small and the laundromat is overpriced.
