Umhlanga Rocks is a holiday resort village on the East Coast of South Africa north of Durban. It has in recent years been under heavy development as businesses moved away from Durban due to urban decay. There are many luxury hotels and apartments in the area. Umhlanga is also well known for being centered around three large shopping malls - La Lucia, The Pavillion and Gateway. Gateway is the 8th largest shopping centre in the whole southern hemisphere. It boasts a cinema, an IMAX, a skatepark designed by Tony Hawk and the highest indoor climbing rock in the world.
Umhlanga is definitely a very busy, very beautiful place to stay and you are guaranteed to have a great time on the beach, in the malls or in the surf.
