The Ulster Folk and Transport Museum was voted Irish Museum of the Year and illustrates the way of life and the traditions of the people of the north of Ireland.
Set in over 170 acres of rolling countryside, the outdoor Folk Museum tells the story of life in early 20th century Ulster. It includes a wonderful Titanic Exhibition with models, original charts from the shipyard where its was built - 3 miles away!!!

In two ‘campuses’ a few hundred yards apart, the two halves - the vehicles and Titanic exhibit and the relocated buildings – make up one of the most engaging and visitor friendly venues on the island. People in period costume roam the open air exhibits, there are working features like the spade mill and the basket maker’s workshop. Almost 50 exhibits have been acquired by the Museum from all over Ulster and beyond and restored and authentically furnished. The Open Air Museum is complemented by the Folk Galleries which show how food, farming, everyday occupations and lifestyles have changed through time.

The Transport Museum, one of the finest in Europe, displays Ireland's largest and most comprehensive transport collection, from horse-drawn carts to Irish built motor cars including a De Lorean, and from the mighty steam locomotives that graced our railways to the history of ship and aircraft building. Permanent exhibitions of international acclaim also include Titanic and X2 Flight Experience. The transport section also houses the Irish Steam collection.

I love this place, it was were I got my first job in furniture repair and restoration, and where I bring visiting friends whenever I can. Just brilliant and Ireland in microcosm!
