Hard times at the border

Woke up pretty early to catch a 8am train to Beijing. Spent most of the day doing the usual sleeping/eating/reading on the train. For some reason today dragged on. Being idle sucks.

Heute war ein ereignisreicher Tag. Wir vier (Wieder der Peruaner, Engländer, Schwede und ich) wollten zu einem weiteren Nationalpark (Tuv Aimag) fahren, wo es Ruinen eines budhistischen Klosters zu sehen gibt. Das Hostel hätte uns Auto und Chauffeur für 50 USD zur Verfügung gestellt, wir haben aber gemeint, mit Taxi wäre es billiger. War es schlußendlich auch und hat uns zu einem seltsamen Erlebnis verholfen. Wir haben mit dem Taxifahrer einen Preis von 20000 Tukrit, etwa 15 EUR, ausgeh...

I organized a 2-day tour from my guesthouse (Idre's Guesthouse), and took off for Terelj National Park with my guide, Tsarana, and my driver, Tumoor. We stopped at the humongous Turtle Rock formation, and walked over a seriously deteriorated wooden bridge, missing slats, rotted out, and suspended by cables to check out a Buddhist temple - new one, built in the 90's, and already falling apart. Summer 2006 I went from Bejing to Irkutsk, taking the K5 Train. Recomendable to everyone: safe, relaxing, awesome nature, friendly stuff, I do not spekak a word of rusian, I was on my own and I enjoyed it a lot .
