Ulaangom! what a town! I wish I could say more but as a town...well... I think the best thing is to look under the description for Olgiy, it's about the same.
But, the market here is a bit bigger, there for it's a better place to get a ride back east, or if you are planing to come from UB, it may be easier for you to come first to Ulaangom and then move on to Olgiy. You also more likely to find some fresh fruits over here then at Olgiy so stock up if you can.

The good part is that nearby you can find the very nice Uvs Nuur (lake in Mongolian). This is by every scale a very big salt lake, with a rich bird life.
Even better is beautiful Mt. Turgen, at the heart of the Turgen Uul Nature Reserve. You see, this is a good reason to make the trip up here!
