Ueno Reviews

Sep 18, 2005
This is one of the areas where the locals hang out. Ueno Park is Tokyo’s largest park where families hang out for the day. It is similar to Central Park in New York but not as big. Nearby are many of the museums, shrines and temples. Not far from the park at Okachimachi Station is Ameya Yokocho. This is an area of a few streets that have hundreds of stores/stalls selling everything from food, fish, vegetables, meat, hand-crafts, home goods, and clothes. This is where many of the locals shop. It’s very cool. We ate at a local noodle house here. I can’t remember the name but it was excellent. We were the only non-Japanese in there and no one spoke English. I loved it.
