Interesting WWII related site Jun 23, 2013
If you are in or passing by Mobile, AL, I think this is a good place to visit. We were driving back from Pensacola and saw this monumental battleship that of course we had to visit. Unfortunately it was too late for the last entry and we just took pictures from the outside.

I think it's a really interesting place, and you can have the feeling inside one of the US Battleships of WWII.

In front of the ship there were a few tanks and airplanes from the Soviet Union, which were also cool to see.

We spent an afternoon there last summer. As a WWII amateur researcher I found it quite interesting.
@rsvpme Re: WW2 veterans, I had thought so too but surprisingly, there are still a number of them around.

It is interesting how man wants to display and remember weapons. The number of people who were even born during the war years is now small. Very few WW2 veterans are even alive.

Battleship Memorial Park a wicked good time Feb 04, 2008
For about $12 for an adult you can see all sorts of history. Not only can you see it, you can touch it and walk through it. The USS Alabama is not only impressive in size; it also has an impressive history during the pacific campaign of WWII. You can feel the awesomeness of the ship just by standing in her shadow and she is a big ship so she has a big shadow. Right next door to her is the USS Drum also impressive although she doesn’t look like it now. From the outside she doesn’t look like much but go explore inside and you’ll get a feel of what it was like and you can actually see one of the subs kill shots I mean to say her sinking an enemy ship. The aircraft hanger has some awesome aircraft in there as well they have a flight simulator you can go in and pick your program and get bounced around in this thing. Kids will love this place and scout troops can do overnight stays. It’s a good time and its really cheap just running throughout the ships is fun and getting to touch all sorts of cool stuff is wicked fun too.
