Great place to stay Sep 27, 2012
USA Hostels has a branch in Hollywood, like they do in San Diego and San Francisco. And like those other 2 places, this one is very nice and worth staying in.

Located on Schrader Blvd, which is just off Hollywood Blvd, between 2 Metro stops. You can get off either Hollywood & Vine, or Hollywood & Highland. But the latter one is a better option, if arriving at night, as there are more people around that stop, than the other one.

After checking in, you may be asked for a passport, even if you are a domestic tourist. That is to make sure that no one tries to live there, when looking for housing elsewhere. If you don’t have a passport, then a copy of itinerary will be just as good. You will be given a key card, not only to access your room, but also to get past the reception desk.

When in your room, you have to tape a receipt to your designated bed. The room is really nice, though it can feel a little stuffy at times. There are lockers, and the beds are comfortable. And each bed has a little dashboard, with a socket, where you can plug in things, to recharge your phone or whatever else.

Each room has its own bathroom, but that could be an issue with many people in the room. Also, when taking a shower, you may want to make sure the windows are closed, since the hostel is across from the apartment building. Otherwise, you may be stared by some peepin’ toms.

There is laundry and dryer machine available, with detergent provided. You will need to get a lot of quarters for them.

A staple of all USA Hostels, is the all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast. You have to make your own, but you can eat as much as you can. And it’s included.

There may be dinners at the hostel, but you have to pay around $6 for the all-you-can-eat. Not a bad deal, and saves the hassle of going out to look for something to eat.

The staff are nice and helpful, and answer any question you may have about LA. There are computers to use, which cost a few dollars. And a free one to use in the lobby, to look anything up quickly. Printing is free.

But there is one big problem, and that is parking. The hostel does not have its own parking, so the staff will recommend some garages to stay at. Though that poses another problem, which is that the garages don’t have the in and out privileges. That means, you will be charged for going in as if it was your first time. So if you can, try not to have a car while staying there, as public transportation in LA is not as bad as some make it out to be.

But other than the parking issue, this hostel is just as good as the other USA Hostels, making it an excellent place to stay at.

Good hostel, Great Location Mar 08, 2012
I would stay here anytime I was in Hollywood, It was clean and comfortable. The lounge has cheap beers and lots of fun. I stayed here with my brother and cousin and we were fine. We only had 1 night of night mare Roomies and they seemed to be the exception as after that everyone was fine. The check in and security are very good and the beds are large and comfortable. the location is near everything. Parking is a bit of a pain but its 12 bucks for 24 hrs around the corner and its safe and secure. The hostel has an activity most days as well

For the loud and party animals... Aug 16, 2009
This hostel has a bit of a druggy feel, and is a bit grotty and has an odd smell... it plays a lot of music late at night in the halls, and it seems like a constant party place... day and night! If you're alone and a reasonably quite person (like moi), it can not be that fun, but it might be better if you go with a friend.

However, the location is the best location in Los Angeles, basically on the corner of the main part of Hollywood Blvd, so that is why I would put up with it

Overall, this place is a hangover in a Hostel...

A GREAT place to stay!

Clean rooms, even cleanier bathrooms. Perfect location for sight-seeing and night life! Events planned for those who aren't sure what they want to do (day tour trips, shuttles to the beach, nightlife events). The Limo ride event and Pub crawl were fabulous and everyone there turned out to be incredibly nice! Highly recommend this place to anyone especially those who like an active nightlife- there's a lounge/bar upstairs so if you're an early-to-bed type the upstairs rooms might not be for you but I had no problems with the noise level.

This is a great hostel, I have been here twice, and next time I'm in LA

I'll go here again. It has bags of atmosphere, everyone is really

friendly, and they even have a bar! Breakfast is provided in the form

of pancake mix that you cook yourself (free btw) the room we stayed in

was a 6 bed, I think that's the average. Some evenings they provide

entertainment, we were there for a comedy night (again free) and it was

great. we had a BBQ ($5 for all you can eat) and then went up to the

bar for comedy and cheap drinks. The also have details of tours which

you can go on around Hollywood, and transport for Vegas etc... The

location is good for seeing the touristy parts of Hollywood, which

worked for us!
