US Olympic Training Center Colorado Springs Reviews
U.S. Olympic Training Center Colorado Springs Aug 25, 2008
Being a huge fan of the Olympics in general and just on the cusp of watching the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, I had to visit the US Olympic Training Center while in Colorado Springs!
This training center is located on the former ENT Air Force Base in Colorado Springs, CO and officially became the headquarters of the USOC in 1978. In October 1996 and April 1997, the USOC officially dedicated and opened its new $23.8 million, Phase II facilities-a state-of-the-art sports medicine and sport science center, an athlete center, which includes a dining hall and two residence halls. The USOC is able to provide housing, dining, recreational facilities and other services for up to 557 coaches and athletes at one time on the complex. While here, athletes and coaches are provided these services as no charge.
The facilty houses two Sports Centers, an Aquatics Center, Shooting Range, residential areas for athletes as well as areas for relaxation and fun.
There is a free tour (we had Margaret Cho - just kidding) that'll take you around the campus and in to some of the different buildings. It's a great places to visit. And it'll certainly get you into the olympic spirit!
