Great hostel in the center of UB Feb 04, 2009
This is one of the best hostels I have ever been.

Before I arrived in UB I send my train information to the hostel so they were picking me up on the trainstation, for free. I slept in a dormitory and it was really clean. And cost only US$5 for night. That also include free breakfast, free internet and free coffee or tea anytime you want. You could also use their kitchen to make your own meals.

They have laundry service which cost about US$2 per load. Depends how much laundry you have. They can also arrange you tours all over Mongolia.

I did the Terelj national park tour and I can only recommend it. It was US$25/day/person if I remember correctly. It included 2 meals/day, one riding trip and sleeping in a traditional yurt.

They can also help you arrange your chinese visa and get your train tickets where ever you are going.

In summers it can get little crowded so it should be good idea to book ahead. I booked it through hostelworld.com.

I donĀ“t have any negtive feelings towards this place. It was just great! Clean, friendly and helpful people, very close to center, there is a grocery nearby.. Just perfect!

The most popular guesthouse in UB May 27, 2008
The UB Guest House is the current backpacker's favourite in Ulaanbaatar, and rightfully so!

The hostel offers several dorms as well as a couple of double rooms. Amenities include free breakfast, free Internet service, cheap laundry, hot showers, free satellite TV and movies in the common room.

The beds are pretty big for Asian standards (measuring 1m x 2m) though Mongolian sand-filled mattresses do require getting used to. Though they all look the same, some of their beds are better than others.

Because the hostel is situated in a converted appartment, it can be a bit cramped at times. In the mornings there are queues for the showers and it can be difficult entering the tiny kitchen for your free breakfast.

On the upside this results in a great atmosphere and this hostel is a great place to meet fellow travellers.

Apart from the dorms and rooms in the main building the hostel also owns several appartments in the neighbourhood which have been converted into dorms as well. These are an excellent option for those wanting a bit more peace and quietness.

The best thing about the hostel are its tours though. The hostel works with a unique system which enables fully customized itineraries, staying with local families throughout the country. By far the best way to see the country!

The hostel staff will also help with arranging visas for Russia and China, as well as train and flight tickets.
the UB Guesthouse's unique selling…
