Twin Falls Yoho National Park Reviews
Twin Falls in Yoho Valley - 50% OFF! Sep 21, 2008
Within Yoho NP in Canada, lies dozens of hiking trails. One hiking trail I do again and again is the 17km hike (return) to Twin Falls. The beauty along the way within the Yoho Valley, and up to the falls is breathtaking. Several waterfalls grace the route to the main attraction.
Starting at the parking lot at Takkakaw Falls, head towards the Twin Falls and start walking past the campground into the open area. For about 2km, fairly level gravel paths are the way. Soon though, steeper legs (some over 45 degress) come along, The route is actually quite up and down, but overall ascencion to the falls. Many falls and the glacier water along the way, with built footbridges across the river/stream at some points. AT some forks in the path, a sign with 'directions' is posted. Usually, the Twin Falls direction isn't listed. If this is the case, go the opposite way of the other lake or falls listed.
At the Twin Falls, one side of falls was 'shut-off', making "Twin" a misnomer at this time. You can eat here, sitting on the rocks, or the built benches to sit and take in the gorgeous scenery. The falls themselves are from a reservoir at Galcier Daly I believe (not 100% if Daly) atop the massive cliff
Be sure to allow enough time to get back to the parking lot before the sun goes down. Obviously the descending 9km to the lot doesn't take as long as going up though. We hike up the Twin Falls (including taking photos and stopping along the way at other sights) taking about 2.5hrs. It took about 1.75 hrs back to the car. Allow 3hrs up and 3 hrs back, and you'll have no problems. Be sure to enjoy the Takkakaw Falls the parking lot too!
