Turnhout Overview

Turnhout is a city in the North of Belgium in the province of Antwerp. It's close to the border with the Netherlands. It's also the capital of the Kempen, which is a region in Belgium).

Turnhout is famous for its playing cards made by the company Carta Mundi. Other big companies in the neighbourhood are Janssen Pharmaceutica and Soudal.

Things to visit here are the castle of the Dukes of Brabant, church of St. Peter on the market (which is especially known for its pulpit) and the 13th century B├ęguinage, the Museum of Playing Cards and the Taxandria museum (about the history of Turnhout).

In the summertime it is nice to sit on one of the many terraces of the market square and taste one of the local beers!
