Tu Hieu Pagoda Hue Reviews
Amazing pagoda Mar 11, 2010
Out of all the pagodas in Hue, this is my favourite one. Originally built in the nineteenth century, the pagoda received royal patronage shortly after and it was subsequently extended. Apart from the main building, the site contains a half-moon lake (the name says it all!), a courtyard and graves which belong to the king’s eunuchs.
The pagoda is in very good condition considering its age, and the grounds which surround it make for a nice walk.
If possible, I’d time your visit just around mid-morning, as this is when the monks are singing hymns and praying in front of Buddha. The ceremony can be viewed by tourists, as long as you remain respectful of course. The singing is really heavenly, and it was a pleasure to watch monks from a broad age range taking part in the ceremony according to their age and experience.
This really was my favourite pagoda in Hue for the monks taking part in the religious ceremony, and I highly recommend it for this reason alone.
