Tsukiji Fish Market Overview

If it lives in the ocean, you can probably find it at the Tsukiji Fish Market! Known for it's famous Tuna Auction (now closed to visitors) this is a HUGE WAREHOUSE of fresh seafood right off the boat! An interesting tourist destination, but go early!

The tuna auction in Tsukiji is open to the public except during the busiest months of December and January. Visitors to the tuna auction is limited to 140 people per day, into 2 groups. The first group gets to see the tuna auction from 5 am to 545, and the 2nd group gets to see the last half of the auction. So be sure to arrive at the fish information center early anytime after 3 am to reserve a spot.
