Troy Vacation Guide

Troy was formerly one of the most prestigious cities in the United States. It's proximity to the large city of Albany which became the capital and being at the junction of the Hudson and Mohawk Rivers made this city a major industrial and cultural center. Harriet Tubman was saved from slave hunters here, the first steel mill in the US was here, and this is the home-city of Uncle Sam (yes he was real, and a very good honest man). Since the decline of the railroads and the lack of trading along the rivers, Troy has declined like so many other American cities. There are beautiful buildings, with the Troy music hall having one of the most acoustically perfect spaces on the east coast. RPI and Russell Sage are two famous colleges in this city and have a big influence on it. If you come here for tourism you better love history or you will be disappointed. It is a great place for artists also since there is a rather bleak landscape mixed with the right atmosphere for creativity. Crime here is not as bad as it is made out to be, so come and visit and decide what you think of my home city. =P
