Tropical Paradise Reviews

Feb 17, 2006
Tropical Paradise is a relatively new Ghanaian restaurant in Berkeley. I've never had Ghanaian food before, but I have to say that my first experience was a good one. The ginger-fried plantains here are delicious. They were prepared fresh, right when we ordered them, so they came to our table in a steaming hot bowl. The entrees consist mainly of "chichingas", which are various meats cooked on skewers with mustard, ginger, lemon juice and garlic. I ordered the chicken thigh skewer over the chicken breast skewer. The breast meat was a little bit overcooked and dry, but the thigh meat was perfectly done. The staff here was exceptionally friendly and I would come back for the service alone. Definitely come here if you want to try something different.
