The Trinity site is open to the public twice a year on the first Saturday in April and October. It is possible to visit ground zero where the first atomic bomb was tested. The topsoil has been removed and radiation levels are low for a quick visit (you get more radiation exposure from your food in a year). The remains of the tower are here and a viewing box showing trinitite (glass) fused from the heat of the explosion. There is a model of the Fat Man bomb here. The site is not surprisingly very remote.
