If you've never tried filipino food, you should go to Tribu for your first experience. It's a small clean place with some long tables are shared with other customers but it's certainly worth it. Everything is served family style, allowing you to try more dishes. For starters, Filipino food is full of different flavors with lots of things either fried, stewed, or grilled so it's not the best for your arteries. For appetizer, try the lumpia which are fried spring rolls full of pork, shrimp, and veggies or the chicharon bulaklak, which is fried pork intestines... before you say anything you must try it. I know organs in general don't sound appetizing but its fried, making it look more like pieces of fried chicken. For entrees, the sinigang is excellent coming in beef, shrimp, bangus belly, and pork. It's a tamarind stew with eggplant, spinach, and green long beans. They even ask you how sour you want it which is a change from the usual restaurants that ask you how spicy you want something. I also recommend the beef short ribs, pampano escabeche, pork adobo (a must), and sizzling bangus belly. The kare-kare is not so good and doesn't do the real dish justice. Rice should accompany every dish and the garlic fried rice is tasty but regular steamed rice goes well with the stews. For dessert, halo halo is traditional. It's purple yam ice cream on top of a mixture of beans, jellies, and shaved ice. The turon, which is a fried spring roll with banana and lanka inside, is also good. They also have reasonably priced lunch specials from 11am-2pm monday to friday, which is one of their popular entrees with rice. Try Tribu if you've never had filipino food and near the San Francisco area!
