Books you might find in my backpack
Books you might find in my backpack (or shelves, in this case), right now I'm currently reading "The Reincarnationist" by M.J. Rose, it's a thriller, pretty good, so far, I'm towards the end. The book I read before was Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, which was fantastic! Fast forward to March, 2008: Didn't get to read One Hundred Years..., started to read Love in the Time of Cholera, but didn't get to finish it. I've read "Eat, Pray, Love" which was awesome, and I'm currently just finishing "Water For Elephants, " which is great, too. Next book I'll be reading is "The Other Boleyn Girl". Want to read the book first, then watch the movie. Music you might find me listening to while waiting for my plane
Most Memorable Travel Experience
When I went to an Italian tour vacation back in 2002 with my mom during Christmas time: before we left for Italy, I tried to get tickets for the Papal Midnight Mass at St. Peter's Basilica. I knew that we didn't have a chance, since we were getting close to the day we were leaving. About 2 or 3 days befoe we left I received a message from this sweet nun at the North American college in Rome telling me that they had two tickets reserved for us for the papal mass. My mom and I were so elated! While in Rome, following the nun's directions from the e-mail, my mom and I were walking all the way around Rome (even passing the Fountain of Trevi!) to find the North American College. When we got there, we knocked on their massive and imposing old wooden doors, and this priest opens the door, and lets us into this living room/waiting area, until the nun would get us. So later the nun goes to get us, and others who were there also to pick up their tickets, and went across the courtyard to a full map of Vatican City to explain to us the logistics of getting there, what to do, what not to do, and with the advice to just accept where you are during the mass, and think that that's where God wanted you to be. While at St. Peter's we waiting under drizzly rain for about an hour or two, then they opened the gates, and people just ran for it, and so did we! We managed to be in the middle part of the basilica, and thanks to two very kind sisters, we were able to be up close to Pope John Paul II, when he came down the aisle. When we yelled "Papa Mexicano!" He turned to us, and I swear, he looked down at us. It was awesome. Afterwards, it was raining, it was cold, and it was 3am. We had to get to the hotel ASAP for an early morning drive to Assisi with our group. We shared taxis with four fellow Mexican tourists, and at the end of that night, I might say it was a wonderful experience, most definitely blessed!
Profile
Well, I'm originally from Mexico, but I lived in the US for about twenty years. I just became a US citizen in late January, and I already exercised my right to vote--twice! That was quite an experience! I have a B.A. in History, and a Master's in Library Science. I work as a part-tim reference & adult services librarian, and I work at my dad's office as asistant office manager...doing a little bit of everything there. I'm the youngest of four, and I'm the proud aunt of a cutie pie nephew, and another sweetiepie nephew that 4 months old! I love children and animals, especially dogs, bunny rabbits, penguins, dolphins, anything that's cute and furry. I love to read, go watch all kinds of movies, go out to eat, browse in the bookstores, surf the internet for interesting websites, or the news, or to shop for anything from flight tickets to books.
