Trattoria OMERO Reviews

Jan 23, 2006

The Trattoria Omero is one of the best restaurants in
Florence, Italy – and maybe the world.

Situated in the hills above Florence, it is possible to walk
to Omero, although most of its patrons arrive by taxi from the city below. On
occasion, I have walked there, and I recommend this method of travel – you will
arrive hungry and tired, but I find that I enjoy the meal even more this way.

Once you arrive at Omero you will see that this is not a
typical tourist-trap restaurant. It is on a very quiet street, and no one would
ever find it except for locals and those with the best tour-books.

I have had both their Bistecca alla Fiorentina (steak) and
their basic pasta with meat sauce. Both are sublime. The pasta sauce is not
acidic, but almost sweet, and contains the perfect tomato to meat ratio. The steak
is cut to order, and you can go up to the kitchen to select your personal cut.
It is truly a top-class eating experience.

The prices are not cheap, and a full meal for four people
will run well over $100. I would not recommend going here unless you want to
eat an entire meal.

However, it is an experience not to be missed! Save up
if you have to, you will not regret eating at the Trattoria Omero.
