Trapeze classes in DC: Forget fear, worry about the addiction May 17, 2010
Wow! Did you ever think you could take trapeze lessons and sore above a net like acrobats in Cirque du Soleil, the Big Apple circus, or the Barnum and Bailey circus? The Trapeze school of NY has rigs set up in NY, LA, Boston, and DC. For about $55 ($45 during the week) and 3 hours of your time, you and your friends can take lessons and be the acrobats you wish you could be.

The website has video and pics as well as instructions about what to wear and what to expect. The major things to expect the day of is to have fun and don't expect to come home with clean clothes-they'll be coverd in chalk (if you wear dark clothes). You take constant directions about when to tuck, when to release, when to let go, and when to kick.

Once you're done, in the days to follow, your lats will be sooooo sore. The calf and the area behind the knee will feel like you got hit with a bat (from hanging on the pole with your legs). And you will have calluses on your hands. You and your friends are free to take pics and video and laugh and point.

Other pointers include wearing long sleeve shirts and comfy cotton socks. Be sure you can follow instructions. If not, you'll be in a harness and will fall safely and slowly into the safety net below. Enjoy and be sure to ocme back and let me know how it went!
