Are you travelling all over Europe including the far reaches of the east? If you are then there is another very good budget airline you should consider, www.wizzair.com Similar setup as Ryan air or easyjet.
If you want to see and do a lot for your money then I would highly recommend the east. Romania joined the EU in January, so prices are starting to rise. However, you can still travel and find accommodation much cheaper than in the west. Transylvania is a very unique place and should be seen before large scale tourism brings the inevitable changes. Trains are regular, cheap and reliable. If travelling in the summer you should even consider taking a tent with you. It really is a wonderful place!
