Greatest train in the world Apr 25, 2009
This is one of the most greatest and famous railroads in the world. We went on it in the summer of 2005. We started of in St'Petersburg Russia and went from there by train to Moscow, from wich the transsiberia starts. Then we took it down to Irkutsk.Lake baikal wich is in Siberia. In summer temperatures are nice but in winter it can get veryyy cold. From Irkutsk we went south east towards Mongolia on our way the the main capitol Ulan Bator, from here directly to China (Beijing), with a final stop in Shanghai. The trip lasted 3,5 weeks and almost 11.000 km.

The original transsiberia runs al the way to Vladivostok and will not cross China or Mongolia.

The third train you can take is the Trans Mantsjoerije railroad, wich runs from Moscow all the way to Beijing, but will not cross Mongolia. Anyway all these trains are a great experience to do!!!

A great experience on the trip too china, is the changing of the wheels from the train when you cross the boarder with china. You stay in the train while they lift it up and change them. The whole thing last about 1,5 hour and then you continue your journey again.

The stranged thing about the train that is how further you drive east time changes, BUT NOT in the train the time in the train is always Moscow time so that''s a little bit confusing and fun sometimes!!!
