Traffic Hotel Poznan Reviews
Traffic Hotel Sep 30, 2015
The location of Traffic Hotel could not be any better! It is located about 15 minutes of lazy walk from Rynek - The Old Market Square, and 3 min from the bus / train station. In Poznan everything is anyways reachable on foot in 30 minutes max. Next door is the Stary Browar shopping mall (the old brewery now shopping mall), with plenty of shops, cafeterias, restaurants and even multiplex cinema. A nice park which name I don’t know is to be found across the street. It is excellent for morning strolls, if the weather allows. There is a little pond there and some ducks enjoy spending their life in it.
Traffic Hotel is a hotel and a hostel, but the hostel rooms are separated from the rooms for the hotel guests, which is very considerate. The hotel and the kitchen are located on the third floor, while the hostel one floor lower. There is a new elevator installed but it is quite slowly. I climbed the stairs as I didn't have enough patience to wait for it.
The hotel looks modern but sharp eye will notice that under the blanket of Ikea there is still an old building. How old can it be? Old enough to be an ex-HQ of German Gestapo. Quite creepy, no?
I booked a single room as I went to Poznan alone. I am not used to single beds so it was a bit strange to sleep in such a small bed. The bed was basic but comfy. The single room was ok, enough space for one person. The bathroom was clean. It had a nice shower. It wasn’t the most quiet room I have slept but it wasn’t that bad either. I liked the modern decor of the room. Everything looked brand new. Straight from Ikea.
Wifi was free, within the room and had a good, strong signal.
Breakfast is included in the room’s price. Food is well presented and plentiful. Breakfast consists of choice of cereals and the normal central european type of breakfast (cheese, ham etc). There is also a decent choice of vegetables (tomatoes, pickles, cucumbers, paprika etc). Oh, yes, but do check the dishes you are about to use, they might have been washed (or not washed) by a hotel guest that used them night before. The kitchen is open 24/7. Tea and coffee are available throughout the whole day. There is refrigerator which could be freely used to store your mug. Something sweet is served to match the coffee, usually cookies. Also fruits. There is unlimited access to the kitchen area for where you can prepare your own food if required. There is always juice and milk waiting there for you. You can make tea and take the mug to your room. The shared area is very pleasant and there is even a sun terrace.
To sum up - I can recommend this hotel, it's a good value for money, really.
P.S. The hotel is located on the Niezlomnych Street (Unbreakable Street). The street was name like that to honor the people killed by Germans during the occupation of Poznan. In the building, there was the HQ of German Gestapo, who tortured and murdered Poles during World War Two.
