Traders Hotel Yangon Reviews
Sep 08, 2006
First of all I have to say that unfortunately this hotel is owned by the Military Junta.
I didn't knew when I had booked on line, I knew it only.. after. Too late, sorry, mea culpa.
Is up to you to decide to spend time here or not, but indeed u have to know it.
Traders Hotel is situated in the heart of Yangon city, next to bustle of Bogyoke Aung San market, looking over the railway station, the golden glitter of Sule pagoda, the little streets with their coloured shop houses and the ships riding at anchor on the broad river.
It's a five stars hotel, but i like to say it's a 10 stars super deluxe very cheap.
Maybe not for the room that is a standard, but comfortable beds, clean everywhere and fully equiped.
The water of the washtube is drinkable, like nowhere in Myanmar.
I spent only 123 us dollars for a couple of days included intercontinental breakfast, welcome drink, free gym, pool, spa access (excluded massages!! :) and airport pick-up.
The real plus is the staff: is extremely gentle, everyone helps you for every u want or u think u want.. they know in advance what u need and if don't know u want, they read your mind and after a while, before u imagine what u can ask, u got it!
i have no words to comment this superb hotel.
Indeed, it's one of the best hotel i've been in the world that i know, but... like told above, is a military junta's hotel.
Maybe a good one, but Not Reccomended.
But i keep the review coz i know that there are people maybe with children that could choose this hotel for the comforts or whatever.
The decision is up to you, of course for me, i won't stay no more there.

Traders Hotel Yangon Overview
Facilites: There are outdoor swimming pool, children's pool, baby sitting, fitness centre with jacuzzi, massage, sauna and steam room. Business centre and conference facilities including a ballroom which can hold 900 seated pax. Shopping gallery including a clinic. General: The hotel is in an unbeatable location, high standard of comfort and part of the Shangri-La group. Rooms are generous proportioned rooms and bathrooms (31 square metres) are well appointed and sumptuously decorated, though the standard rooms which do not enjoy the better city views (ie no pagodas) have had some facilities taken away. They are still the same size as the rooms with better views. Rooms come with voice mail, satellite TV and in-house movies, IDD telephone, electronic safe, minibar, coffee/tea making facilities and executive writing desk. The hotel is located on Sule Pagoda road (a downtown landmark) in the heart of Yangon, very close to the Bogyoke (Scott's) Market and Chinatown, 30 minutes drive from Mingaladon airport. Traders Cafe takes 152 pax for buffet breakfast, lunch and dinner. Lunch and dinner dishes are a mixture of Burmese, Indian and International dishes. Almost as many covers will fit into the signature Japanese restaurant Tategoto. Cantonese and seafod are served in the plush Summer Palace, Whilst the smaller Gallery bar serves cocktails and steaks. It is tall and modern building, flush frontage, but not out of keeping with its immediate surroundings. It is quite a long building and more noticeable when entering the lobby. Lobby is expansive, with the lobby lounge directly opposite the entrance, and the reception desk concealed to the left. It is ample room for group check-in.
