Town Place Landing Bowdoinham Reviews
A Place to Land May 24, 2014
If you want to order a sit down meal in Bowdoinham, Town Landing Place is the sole option. They are also a limited grocery, convenience store, bar and bakery with a really strategic location. The joint sits at Bowdoinham’s main intersection adjacent to the Town Landing. Unfortunately the strategy falls apart because it is a small town (population 3,000) and little or no cross traffic (I only come around to visit Ed ever few years!).
Because the Friends of Merrymeeting Bay office is located across the street I’ve sampled a few of their restaurant offerings over the years - lunch sandwiches that weren’t spectacular but okay for the price. Unfortunately, every local I know here offers poor reviews of their food. It can’t be everyone in town (apparently just the few I know), because the attraction for me is how there are always a few crusty old Mainers drinking coffee in the restaurant and serving up fun stories of hunting or fishing adventures with a pure Maine accent.
They also have a bountiful spread of sweet baked goods spread across the counter in the grocery (a separate room from the dining area), though I won’t sample those wares and have no feedback on whether they are tasty or not. The cup of joe I ordered this afternoon was pretty darn good and very reasonably priced. When you throw in the story two old timers were tossing around about the time a friend got shot in the forearm during a deer hunting adventure, it was quality time.
