Climbing the Town Hall Oct 02, 2017
Our apartment is about two minutes walk to the Town Hall, and we can see the half top of the tower from our bedroom window. It was a very nice day, the weather was beautiful brisk and sunny ... so we decided to climb the Town Hall tower to take some photos and enjoy the view from the top - 200 stairs up! Very pleasant climb to the tower, wide stairs and we didn't feel claustrophobic. Ticket to the tower is very cheap (5PLN), you have to buy a separate ticket to visit the museum. We didn't go to the museum, only had a look through the door. The museum looks pretty good and well preserved.

We got to the top and it was windy but really enjoyed the view. In our opinion, the view over the city from the Town Hall tower is much better than the view from the St. Mary Church, even though the Town Hall is only half of the Church height. I'm saying in regards to taking photos, the Town Hall tower gives you more room to go around the balcony to take photos of the sweeping view. Oh btw, we climbed the Church as well on our first week in Gdansk, and yes we made it 400 stairs up!

The tower bell strikes and chimes on the hour, very pleasant!
