Tourist Hotel Kampala Reviews
Bland but functional Jul 02, 2013
Located bang in the market centre of Kampala, it overlooks the bustling and chaotic Nakasero market. The views can be enticing if you like people-watching, but be prepared for noise late into the night and from very early in the morning. The hotel looks rather shabby and non-descript from the outside but it is reasonably priced, functional, and good value for money. The rooms are spacious, clean, and with attached baths, there are differently priced rooms to choose from, and there is a restaurant inside the hotel. The staff are generally helpful and polite and there is room service if you don't feel like walking down the steps to the restaurant. The reception advised me to keep valuables in the room locked, though security generally didn't seem like an issue. The hotel also organises cabs - and I took them both within Kampala as well as to Jinja and Entebbe. It is of course a very central location, so you are well placed that way.
