"A truly magnificent football stadium" Oct 07, 2008
I was lucky enough to attend a match at this stadium in March 2008 but didn't take in the tour. I did this tour during my visit to Madrid in Oct 2008.
It all starts with glass fronted elevator to the top of the stadium which gives you a panoramic view of the pitch and stadium. Next you make your way down to the trophy room and museum. The museum and trophy room are very interesting and a good hour could be spent in this area alone, this is a unguided tour so you have as much time as you like. A guide leaflet is supplied when the tickets are purchased. After the chance of refreshments you make your way across to the other side of the stadium walking through the presidential box on route. You then arrive at pitch level where you can sit in the teams pitch-side dug out area. From here the tour takes you into the visitors changing rooms which are more like the spa of a five star hotel. The tour ends with a visit to the clubs huge merchandise shop, again an hour could easily be spent in here. If you are into football you will love this tour, if you are not into football you will be amazed at the sheer size and splendour of this wonderful arena. A fantastic stadium well worth a couple of hours when in Madrid, if you are lucky and are in Madrid on a match day it is possible to get tickets for a game, I did this also in March 2008 and it was one of the best experiences of my life. …but not taken the tour, it was an interesting morning, the guide was well knowledged on the history of the bullfighting scene, the tour took us around the arena and also behind the scenes but this is Madrid and it was time to move on.
After a light lunch of beers and tapas we then headed for the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu via the metro. Before taking the tour… Day 2; Madrid bullring, Estadio Santiago Bernabeu and a bit more.... |
